Just in time for the spooky season
What better time than the spooky season to explore unique experiences? Now, travelers who book a stay at one hotel in New York City will have the opportunity to do just that.
Starting from October 1st, The James Hotel New York will introduce an in-house, on-demand Witch-in-Residence, available for guests to book through the digital concierge service. Throughout the entire month, Shawn Engel, a professional practitioner of spiritual arts, will be available to offer programs on astrology, spell work, and even a class on how to address past relationships.
Meet Shawn Engel
Shawn Engel, a spiritual mentor, entrepreneur, and published author, provides a variety of offerings, including tarot readings, numerology consultations, inner child healing sessions, teachings on “protection magick,” lessons on manifestation, and even a “Love Conjuring” class that guides guests in crafting their own personalized love spells. When not teaching, Engel operates Witchy Wisdoms, a spiritual brand and platform dedicated to assisting individuals on their path to discovering new aspects of their spirituality. She also hosts two witchcraft podcasts, namely “The Boss Mystic” and “True Crime Astrology.”
Classes and Pricing
For those interested in experiencing these mystical offerings, classes will be accessible via the digital concierge service exclusively for guests staying at The James Hotel. Pricing for each class varies, ranging from $55 for a 30-minute session of “Abundant AF Astrology,” during which Engel interprets your natal chart, to $88 for a 45-minute session of “Spirits and Shadow Work,” where Engel utilizes a combination of tools, including a pendulum, to assist individuals in need of healing.
If you’re looking to explore the world of hexes, you can do so through a 90-minute pre-recorded masterclass, priced at $66, which covers the art of hexing. More details about these classes can be found on the official booking portal.
The James Hotel’s Tradition
This isn’t The James Hotel’s first venture into unique experiences. As a luxury property that embraces the spirit of Halloween, the hotel previously collaborated with Brooklyn’s occult bookshop, Catland Books, in 2019 to offer “Witching Wednesdays.” This included consultations on herbal remedies and classes covering various subjects, such as potion making.
